Information You Send
When a visitor enters a name, phone number, or address into a search form, that submission is sent to the third-party provider that supplies the results. Bristol Residents Directory does not keep a copy of those search terms on its own servers. A message sent to the contact address contains only the details included by the sender and is used to answer that message.
Routine Technical Logs
The host may record an IP address, browser type, pages viewed, and timestamps in ordinary server logs. Those details are reviewed in aggregate to keep the site working and understand which Bristol reference pages are useful. Basic analytics or advertising measurement may use cookies or similar tools where they are enabled.
How That Information Is Used
Technical information helps operate the pages, fix faults, measure traffic, and improve the reference material. Visitor lists are not sold, and Bristol Residents Directory does not build an individual user profile from ordinary visits.
External Portals and Search Boxes
Pages link to Bristol, Connecticut, and federal record portals, library collections, archives, and third-party search tools. The privacy policy of the destination governs anything submitted there. The same is true of the sponsored search results, which are supplied by another company.
Who May Process It
Hosting and technical service providers may process server logs while they support the site. Analytics and advertising partners may receive the limited automatic data described above. Information may also be disclosed when valid legal process requires it; otherwise it is not shared as a visitor list.
Security and Retention
The site uses an encrypted connection. Logs are kept only for as long as the purposes above call for them. Because Bristol Residents Directory has no user accounts, it does not keep a site password or personal account profile that could be exposed.
Children and Teens
The reference is intended for adults and is not directed to children. Bristol Residents Directory does not knowingly collect personal information from someone under 18. If a parent or guardian believes a minor sent information, use the Contact page so the material can be reviewed and removed from the site’s own records.
Your Connecticut Privacy Choices
Connecticut’s Data Privacy Act provides covered consumers with rights that can include access, correction, deletion, portability, and opt-out choices for sale, targeted advertising, and certain profiling. Those rights do not turn a Bristol Town Clerk land index or another public record into a private site record. Because Bristol Residents Directory keeps little visitor information, a request normally means checking the contact mailbox and applicable logs, then removing what the site itself holds. Use the Contact page to ask.
Policy Changes
Changes to this policy will be posted here with a new effective version. Continued use of Bristol Residents Directory after an update means the revised policy is accepted.
